The first thing I look for in clothing is ease of movement. When guiding in the snowy mountains, I have to keep an eye on a lot of things, so the clothing needs to become one with my body.
When climbing, I often lift my boots up above my knees. In those situations, the CLIMATIC PANT always follows my movements without feeling too tight. I also feel that they've been given careful attention to detail. They fit comfortably around my waist without feeling loose when wearing a harness. Not only is the cut great, but the zipper crotch doesn't use snaps, but instead uses Velcro. Using Velcro minimizes interference with the harness as much as possible.
One of the appealing features of these boots is that they are equipped with only the essentials, with no unnecessary extras. Most modern winter boots are covered up to the upper leg with zippers or other fasteners.
In short, it eliminates the need to wear spats. The CLIMATIC series pants have no gaiters on the inside or outside, making them a perfect match for these types of boots. Simply fastening the snaps at the bottom of the pants prevents snow from getting in, even when breaking through deep snow. They are a prime example of a modern boot and pants match.
The CLIMATIC BIB PANT has three pockets, allowing you to store the essentials of the day, such as an avalanche beacon, smartphone, map, and snacks like candy and chocolate. Of course, the thigh pocket also has a loop for an avalanche beacon.
The bold side zipper is a full side zipper that can be easily removed and put on depending on the weather conditions.
The suspenders are also well thought out. They're just the right width, neither too thin nor too thick. If they're too thin, they'll dig into your shoulders or twist. If they're too thick, they'll be stiff and interfere with your backpack.
Finally, staying dry is key to staying comfortable. Rather than getting sweaty and then wicking away moisture, Täsmä's breathable waterproof fabric literally allows air to move while still remaining waterproof.
I wear it almost every day from December to March, and then about half and half with the TB Pant from April to May. I think that's probably the equivalent of a few years' worth of wear for people who aren't guides. With this level of use, I can wear it for a whole season without any problems.
The CLIMATIC PANT weighs just 450g in size M, making it very light for a winter shell.
The shell is lightweight, durable, and easy to move in, making these pants a very reliable item for me. I'll be using them to the fullest this season.
