If you think these pants are just for running, you're missing out on these incredibly lightweight, all-purpose pants [RUN PANT].

These ultra-lightweight pants, which were released in Spring/Summer 2021, are called "Run Pants," but they are not made specifically for running. Teton Bros. originally created them for running, but in the two years since their debut, everyone has been using them freely and to their heart's content, and their range of use has expanded beyond running.

Of course, the basic concept is for running. As these pants are designed for running, their greatest feature is the lightness of the legs, which doesn't feel like pants at all. Made from a thin fabric weighing just 120g per square meter, the weight of the product is measured at 177g for a medium size. Matched with the stretchy fabric properties, there is absolutely no stress when wearing them. Whether you're running, walking, bending or stretching, they're light and comfortable, with no sense of resistance whatsoever.

Also, if you look closely, you'll see that these pants have extremely few seams. Despite the three-dimensional structure around the knees, there are no seams that wrap around the knee joints. What this does is prevent friction between the fabric and skin when you lift your leg, reduce the number of seams, make the pants move more smoothly overall, make the product itself lighter, and prevent the seams from rubbing against various objects and becoming worn. The Run Pant pursues light movement in its fabrics and length, as well as in its sewing method. Although it may look like this, the concept has been thoroughly thought out down to the last detail. It is an extremely cutting-edge product.

I was caught in a light rain while trekking in Niseko. I put on the Tsurugi Light Jacket for my upper body, but left the Run Pants on my lower body. They soaked through like this, but I didn't mind getting wet at all. But more importantly, pay attention to the stretch that follows the bending of the knees and the lack of seams around the knees. This supple feel leads to an unprecedented lightness and comfort.

Of course, there's no doubt that shorts are the mainstream for enjoying a run. But when I tried out the Run Pants, I noticed something: I didn't have to worry about grass or twigs. Of course, I'm familiar with the security of having my legs covered when I was wearing trekking pants. But it was refreshing to be able to run at a fast pace without having to worry about grass and just move forward. And when I was running through the grass first thing in the morning, the morning dew rolled off the top of the Dry Action pants in beads, without getting my feet wet. I was immersed in a new and moving experience, thinking that perhaps running and pants are a good match.

Right after I took a light run on a mountain path covered with morning dew. My feet weren't hurt by the grass, and I didn't have to worry about insect bites. If the reason you chose shorts until now was because of their mobility, then the Run Pant is definitely a viable running pants option.

However, the Run Pant's true value isn't shown in running. To be honest, from the moment I put them on, I knew they were perfect travel pants in every way. They're comfortable to wear and don't restrict your stride when walking or running.

That's why the Run Pants were perfect for my early summer island trip. I rode the ferry with my backpack on and enjoyed sleeping on the hard floor of a second-class cabin. Even then, I never felt any seams rubbing against my hip bones. It was also easy to do leg stretches after waking up. And while cycling around the island, camping, hiking in the light rain, and playing on the beach, the Run Pants didn't cause me the slightest inconvenience.

Backpacking to the remote islands of Teuri and Yagishiri in Hokkaido. Crossing the sea by ferry, pitching a tent and using rental bicycles for transportation around the island. Even on such an outdoor trip, all you need is a pair of Run Pants.

What's more, the Dry Action not only repels water but also dirt. Even if you sit directly on the ground, mud can be easily brushed off. Whether you're sitting cross-legged in the tent or pedaling a rental bike that hasn't been properly maintained, there's no restriction whatsoever on leg movement or freedom of movement. What's more, the 9/10 hem length is just the right size. Even for those of us with a purely Japanese build who aren't confident about the length of our legs, the loose fit allows us to wear them at our waists without worrying about the hem dragging on the ground when we're at the campsite, and it's comfortable enough to let our spirits flow freely.

If we were to compare these pants to a conventional product, it would be the Crag Pant. These tough pants, with the same Dry Action and stretch properties, are ultra-multiplayer pants that can withstand any use. They are an excellent all-arounder that can be worn every day, summer or winter, and there's no complaints.

However, once I got to know the Run Pant, I couldn't let go of its coolness and lightness. The Crag Pants, which I had never had any complaints about before, now felt a little hot. Now, the Run Pant is my go-to for summer. Functionally, it has the same water-repellent properties as the Crag Pant, but is light and comfortable, making it the perfect multi-purpose outdoor pant for summer.

They are also perfect as trekking pants. I have an iPhone 8 in the left pocket, but the fabric is very stretchy so it doesn't get in the way at all.

One last thing. These cool and comfortable Run Pants don't have a fly to take advantage of their lightweight feel. And while they have elastic in the waist, you still need to tie the strings to tighten them properly. This can be a hassle, as you have to untie the knot every time you need to go to the bathroom. So, I recommend adding a cord lock that's easily accessible. This alone will make them incredibly convenient to wear.

Simply attaching a spare cord lock to any unused part of the chair would make it much easier to use. However, if you plan on using it mainly for running, these parts can cause discomfort due to the chair's swaying. The fun of a minimalist product lies in the individual user's own creative use of it.

That said, we shouldn't expect manufacturers to take on this extra effort. The appeal of Teton Bros. products lies in their clearly defined positioning. They don't aim to do everything. That's why the Run Pant doesn't have a pocket large enough to neatly store a smartphone, nor does it have a zippered hip pocket. Rather, we have fun making full use of these limited functions and seeing how far we can expand our horizons. That's the way to approach these conceptual products.

The foundation of the Run Pant is solid. To put it another way, it's like the broth has been thoroughly prepared, so no matter how you cook it, it'll be delicious. This core quality that is unique to Teton Bros. is what makes the Run Pant a great choice for a variety of categories, including trekking pants, speed hiking pants, and travel pants.
